My Journey with Yoga

When I first encountered yoga it was presented with Sun Salutations as the dominant structure and asanas being the primary focus. Although I was aware of some changes I experienced from this practice my interest was short lived due to its limited presentation.
While receiving massage training I took a class centered on acu-yoga - asanas that were designed to stimulate acupressure points through posture and length of holding them. I loved this perception and it fit nicely with the excitement I felt when learning Shaitsu massage and the meridian lines. However, my focus at that time was predominantly on manifesting a massage career and once again yoga slipped into the shadows.
Then, around 2009 I felt pulled to revisit yoga and all it has to offer. The resources had grown since my initial interest during my teens and I eventually signed up for training to become an instructor. It was through this training that I was introduced the eight limbs of yoga - the potential fullness of a practice that yoked body, mind, and spirit.
Fast forward to thw present and I've spent time learning more about yoga's offering in meditation, deepening a Spiritual practice, breathwork, yin yoga, restorative yoga, and the freedom to practice yoga outside of a routine.
My personal practice focuses on my body's needs in that moment and often shifts between restorative and yin.
I also have a strong spiritual practice aside from but certainly supported by my yoga practice.
My yoga class offerings pulls from my training, my experience as an instructor, my understanding of the 3 bodies, my knowledge in meridian lines, and my experience as a massage therapist and bodyworker.
